Theatre of Cruelty Workshops

Samson and Delilah Contest:
-Contest: Teams A & B
-Class separates & forms 2 separate lines
-Both teams turn around, facing each others backs
-Every team must, as a group, form a still-picture of an avant garde movement, be as innovative as possible
-Thinking time is 10 seconds every after still-picture to think of next one to portray
-Both teams, once they’ve thought out their still-pictures will face each other, portraying their movement at the count of three.

Copy Cat:
-Draw lots or images of Avant Garde movements to copy and imitate, spend one minute to study position and present to class.

'Cruel' Sounds:
-Be in teams, have each turn around facing each other’s backs.
-1 person acts, the other produces sounds.

Through showing 'news styles' of:
looking out
crying
jealousy
imprisonment
joy
pain
ecstatic
freedom
drinking
dying
